The ''SME instrument'' programme has been designed specifically for single or groups of highly innovative SMEs with international ambitions, determined to turn strong, innovative business ideas into winners on the market. The instrument provides full-cycle business innovation support from the stage of business idea conception and planning (phase I) over business plan execution and demonstration (phase II) to commercialisation (phase III). Participants will be able to call on business innovation coaching for the duration of their project.

Mr. Dimitrios Lakasas, the SEVE President, considers the agreement between the Greek Government and Troika as a positive outcome by stressing out that Greece is close to exiting a very difficult period that had very negative effects on the Greek economy and society. In any case, with the reforms that have already taken place and in particular the latest developments in improving inputs - improving non-wage costs (reducing social security contributions by 3.9%, as announced yesterday by the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras), reducting the energy cost for energy intensive industries from the Public Enterprise of Electricity (“ΔΕΗ”), simplifying export procedures - it becomes apparent that there are more practical tools and evidence that the competitiveness of the productive and export business will be significantly strengthened in 2014.

The Thessaloniki local branch of EUNIC organizes on Friday 28.03.2013 in the Thessaloniki New City Hall (City Hall Council room) a workshop on social entrepreneurship. The seminar is organized in the framework of the European Youth Capital, Thessaloniki 2014, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Goethe Institute, the Italian Institute of Thessaloniki and the Greek-Spanish Cultural Center of Thessaloniki “Federico Garcia Lorca,” in the framework of EUNIC Thessaloniki, with the support of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the AUTH unit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Anna Lindh Foundation, the organization 180º, the magazine PARALLAXI, the festival " Thessaloniki Else " and the Business and Cultural Development Centre(KEPA).

The Task Force for Greece Committee published on 11.03.2014 the sixth annual report for the period from October 2013 to January 2014. During this time numerous & important policy reforms were realized through well-targeted and adequately staffed missions for technical assistance.

The Management of the Greek International Business Association (SEVE) hosted on Wednesday, 05/03/2014 a press conference following the publication of data about the performance of the Greek exports in 2013 by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). At the press conference SEVE presented data regarding the state of the Greek exports in 2013, as well as the results of research that the Institute of Research and Studies on Exports (“IEES”) conducted over the past two weeks regarding problems, operating costs and the competitiveness of businesses through questionnaires in more than 100 companies.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on the 4^th of March by Mr. Dimitrios Lakasas the President of SEVE and Mr. Safet Gerxhaliu, the President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, aiming to develop the commercial and financial relations between the two sides. The signing of the Protocol was held during the visit of the incoming 15-member Kosovo Business Mission in the Headquarters of SEVE, which was coordinated by the Southeastern Europe Programme of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), in collaboration with the Kosovo British Council.

The first meeting on EDIP project was held on Tuesday 25/02/2014, at the offices of Invest in North Ireland in Belfast. The meeting was attended by executives of KEPA, Danish Design Centre and Invest in North Ireland.

The Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (“IOBE”) presented on Wednesday 26/02/2014 the study carried out on " Entrepreneurship in Greece 2012-13: Evidence Recovery of Small Entrepreneurship?" The study analyzes the key indicators of entrepreneurship in Greece for the year 2012. In addition, it emphasizes on exploring the data regarding the development of female entrepreneurship before and after the onset of the crisis.

SEVE Press Release for the event “EXTROVERSION - Support of the Offices of Financial & Commercial Affairs” in the framework of the initiative ‘Export Expert’ of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises in Orestiada. The support provided by the Office of Financial & Commercial Affairs (FCA) of the Greek Embassies for companies wishing to do business abroad, was the main subject of the event that was held in order to strengthen the export effort of dynamic business of the Greek region. The two-day event / special networking activity on " EXTROVERSION - Support of the ECA Offices ," organized by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises - link businesses and industries in Orestiada , in collaboration with the Greek International Business Association (SEVE ) and the support the Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, the municipality of Orestiada and the Association of Craftsmen and Industries of Northern Evros.

On 24/02/2014, the Hellenic Federation of Industries (through the Business Environment Observatory that it has founded), presented to Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Minister of Administrative Reform and e-Government and Mr. Kostis Chatzidakis, the Minister of Development & Competitiveness the first annual report on the state of the business environment in Greece.
