Ashoka Greece recently announced four winners from more than 90 entries in “Destination: Change. New Solutions for Greece”, the first Changemakers competition for Greece, launched March 2014. The competition is an initiative by Ashoka, The Hellenic Initiative, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, Boehringer Ingelheim Hellas, and SAP Hellas to source innovative solutions for social change in Greece. The winning project were chosen based on the 3 main criteria of Ashoka Changemakers: innovation, social impact and sustainability.

For the European Parliament of Enterprises (EPE), EUROCHAMBRES brings together over 750 business men and women, coming from 45 European countries who get a chance to 'become' Members of the European Parliament for one day, debating and voting on some of the most crucial topics currently at the heart of the political debate.

The Competition

The Europe in My Region Competition aims to highlight the excellent work that projects across Europe are doing with the help of EU funding, and explore what these projects mean to local communities.

KEPA's executives participated in the 11th European Microcredit Network Annual Conference, held in Lisbon, on June 18-20, 2014, entitled “Employment: Challenges and Opportunities for Microfinance”.

KEPA's executives participated in the 17th MFC Annual conference, held in Istanbul, on May 27-28, 2014, entitled “The new world of financial inclusion: What role for microfinance?”.

KEPA's executives participated in the partners meeting of SCOW project, funded by the ENPI CBCMED Programme, held in Israel on June 12, 2014. The subject of the Conference was the capitalization of the project results, for the Selective Collection of Organic Waste and Composting at Agricultural and Tourism Area.

The European Commission published on 10/06/2014 a new Communication on "Research and Innovation as sources of renewed growth". It is underpinned by the 2014 State of the Innovation Union report that details the steps taken since 2010 to implement the Innovation Union flagship initiative of the Europe 2020 growth strategy.

Design for Europe is delivering the European Design Innovation Platform (EDIP) project. EDIP is an instrument to deliver the Commission's Action Plan for Design-Driven Innovation. The project is co-funded by the European Commission and will be delivered over three years, starting from January 2014.

The international Mediterranean City 2014 Conference is a Greek EU Presidency 2014 event under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research & Technology (GSRT). It is co-organised by the European Commission, the Eurisy, the Mediterranean City Climate Change Consortium (MC‐4), the Mariolopoulos – Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences and the Research Center for Climatology and Atmospheric Physics, Academy of Athens.

The Brussels Economic Forum 2014 will debate how the EU and its Member States can support the nascent economic recovery and which lessons to draw from Europe’s response to the crisis so far. The annual gathering of key economic decision-makers, legislators and commentators will once again be the place to discuss and analyse current economic issues in depth.
