Meeting of the President of KEPA, KEPA-ANEM and EFEPAE, Mr. Thomas-Fokion Algianakoglou with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. John Boutaris

In 18/11/2014, the President of KEPA, KEPA-ANEM and EFEPAE, Mr. Thomas-Fokion Algianakoglou had a meeting with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. John Boutaris, in a very friendly atmosphere.  Mr.  Algianakoglou informed the Mayor of Thessaloniki for the work that had been done by KEPA, KEPA-ANEM and EFEPAE during the NSRF 2007-2013 and the planning of their operations for the new programming period 2014-2020. Also, the Mayor was informed on KEPA's activities through its' European Projects Department and its Brussels office.

Representation of KEPA in the "EUROMED Invest Academy" International Conference by Mr. Kaboukos Dimitris on 13/11/2014

Mr. Kaboukos Dimitris, KEPA's European Projects Department executive, represented KEPA in the context of "EUROMED Invest Academy: New Innovation Networks and role of BSOs", which took place in 13/11/2014, Thessaloniki. In his presentation entitled "Fundraising for new entrepreneurs:engineering the financial mechanism to finance new networks: “The past, the current and the future” ", Mr. Kaboukos referred to KEPA's management experience NSRF programmes, with special reference to the "New Innovation Entrepreneurship" programme, while also he presented KEPA's future plans on supporting SMEs in Greece and especially those in Central Macedonia.

The “Innovating the Public Sector: from ideas to Impact” Conference took place on the 12th and 13th of November 2014 in Paris at the headquarters of OECD.  The 2-days conference brought together public sector practitioners, researchers, civil society and businesses to discuss how innovation can help solve today's complex challenges faced by the public sector. The conference included several workshops and  innovation talks and it was organized in partnership with Futurs Publics, Nesta, MIndLab and OECD.

Parliament elects new European Commission
23/10/2014

MEPs approved the new college of 27 Commissioners, as presented by its President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday morning, with 423 votes in favour, 209 against and 67 abstentions. The new Commission now needs to be formally appointed by EU heads of state or government to enable it to take up duty on 1 November for a five-year term.

Report on “Innovation ID 2014” Conference

Design is an important tool for the development of entrepreneurship and mainly for the production of high added value innovative products and services that bring increased profits from business, was the central conclusion of the successfully implemented conference “Innovation ID 2014”, which was held on Tuesday, October 21st 2014, by the Business & Cultural Development Centre (K.E.P.A.), the Goethe-Institut, the British Council and the Metropolitan Development Thessaloniki S.A. with the support of the Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award at the premises of the Goethe-Institut.

The conference was aimed to inform existing and new entrepreneurs, executives and employees of small and medium-sized businesses in the city and the region of Thessaloniki, as well as students, about non-technological innovation.

Annual Report on European SMEs

Brussels, 3 October 2014 - The European Commission published today the 2013/2014 Annual Report on European SMEs. The report, prepared on a yearly basis, provides an overview of the size, structure and importance of SMEs to the European economy and their contribution to growth and jobs, as emphasised in the Small Business Act and Europe 2020 strategy. Comparisons with important partner countries outside the EU and with the large enterprise sector are also included.
